This Tuesday was our third grade Mexican Fiesta! It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the event. A special thank you to Mrs. Cogliano, Mr. Bean, Ms. Wetmore, and Ms. Tammaro for all of their help with the event. You may view more pictures from the Mexican Fiesta on the photos page of our newsletter.
Also this week, students began having rehearsals for Winterfest. Next Friday, the whole lower school will join together in the commons to sing and celebrate. The event will showcase a variety of songs from around the world. The event will go until noon, at which time students will be dismissed for the day. Winterfest is a dressy event, so boys should wear nice pants and shirts and girls should wear a dress, skirt, or dressy pants and top (no sweatpants or jeans please). Families are invited to join us!

- Students reflected upon the story Santiago's Silver Mine.
- They explored character traits, naming traits that characters in the story had and sharing evidence from the book that showed those traits.
- Students asked "I wonder" questions, thinking about unanswered questions that they still had about the story and characters.
- They also made different types of connections to the story. They thought about text to self connections where they compared aspects of the story to their own lives. They then thought about text to text connections where they connected the story to other stories they had read before.
- Possessive nouns
- Cursive capital letters: V, W, X, Z, and P
