Dear families,
What a busy and exciting two weeks of school! Last week we had the Friends Academy Carnival and the Blue and Gray Games. You will find pictures of last week's exciting events in the slideshow above.
This week we had the unveiling of the Lower School poetry anthology, The Friendly Falcon. We also had our last All School Meeting which included among other things a beautiful tribute to our beloved Lower School head Mrs. Foley-Marsello who will be retiring this year. Band of Friends sang the song Blue Boat Home and the Lower School presented her with a memory book showing their appreciation for all she has done for us at Friends Academy.
On Friday, students received their 2016 Amicus, year books. There was a special Amicus dedication ceremony in the commons. This was followed by the entire school meeting in the gym to mingle and get signatures from friends and teachers.
Next week is set to be just as fun and busy! On Monday we will be having our end of the year picnic. Grades 3, 4, and 5 will be going to Barney's Joy (Demarest Lloyd State Beach). Students will spend much of the morning there walking along the beach, playing games, collecting shells and spending time relaxing and enjoying each other's company. There will be no swimming, and wading is limited to knee deep water. For this reason students will not need bathing suits. They should bring a beach towel, snack, lunch, water bottle, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. It is helpful if students apply sunscreen before arriving at school and then reapply later if needed. Frisbees, beach balls and other beach games are welcome! We will be returning to school at noon to eat lunch. Then the afternoon will include outdoor games and a visit from an ice cream truck.
Tuesday will be the last day of school for Lower School Students.
