Dear families,
We started off this short week with our first ERB test. Last Thursday we did a practice test to help students become familiar with the format and to help them feel more comfortable. Then this week, we began working on the actual test, completing a section each morning. We are scheduled to finish testing next Monday.
A few curriculum highlights from the week:
Math
Social Studies
Language Arts
Technology
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see many of you tonight at Friends Fest!

A few curriculum highlights from the week:
Math
- Students worked on solving multiplication problems where two and three-digit numbers were multiplied by one-digit numbers. They practiced these multi-digit multiplication problems with and without regrouping.
Social Studies
- Students learned about the Japanese holiday, O Bon, a holiday where families celebrate their ancestors.
- They then began making their own O Bon lanterns. On O Bon, these lanterns are sometimes sent floating down rivers or into the sea. The lanterns are released into the water and are thought to "see off" the spirits of ancestors. Students used designs from traditional Japanese brush paintings to decorate their lanterns.
Language Arts
- In writing, students continued researching their individual Japan topics and writing their research reports.
- In reading, students worked with their book clubs, reading versions of the classic stories Swiss Family Robinson or Knights of the Round Table!
Technology
- Students created digital 3D models of Japanese Kokeshi dolls
- They then sent their designs to the 3D printer to be printed!
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see many of you tonight at Friends Fest!
